Freecycle

I have joined the Grand Forks area Freecycle group on Yahoo! People in the area offer items and others can have them. Some also say if there is something they are in need of or want. I think this is an excellent way to get rid of things and blessing people who can use it without throwing it out, giving to thrift shops right away, having a rummage sale, or becoming a packrat. I put a link on the side of this page if you want to check it out or join. Tell me if you already freecycle in your area.

Slow Fade

"Slow Fade" by Casting Crowns

Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away

People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away

People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking

Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away

People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

I heard this song 3 times today which made me think that I need to blog about it!

The following song I sang as a child is part of the above song.

Oh Be Careful Little Ears...

(VS 1) Oh, be careful little ears, what you hear (repeat) For the Father Up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little ears what you hear.
(VS 2) Oh, be careful little eyes, what you see, (repeat) For the Father up above, is looking down in love, So be careful little eyes What you hear.
(VS 3) Oh, be careful little mouth, what you say, (repeat), For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little mouth what you say.
(VS 4) Oh, be careful little hands, what you do (repeat), For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little hands What you do
(VS 5) Oh, be careful little feet where you go (repeat) For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little feet, Where you go.
(VS 6) Oh, be careful little mind what you think (repeat) For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little mind, What you think.

(VS 7) Oh, be careful little heart what you love (repeat) For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little heart, What you love.

I wonder why we don't sing it with kids much anymore. I think I am going to teach it to my class. It is so important to think about what we see, where we walk, what we hear, what we say, what we think. These things affect all that is who we are and what God does and does not want for his Creation. As the first song says "it is a slow fade" if we don't guard ourselves. I didn't say shelter ourselves from everything but we need to guard ourselves or else things start to crumble and we don't even know it.

I see some Christians who were very on fire for God and slowly fade. They compromise their beliefs and don't even know it sometimes. This is also when "black and white has turned to gray". They form opinions without seeing if it is in line with God's Word. Then eventually they don't even know that they are very far from God and living for themselves. Oh, how we all have to guard ourselves from that by staying in constant prayer, Bible reading, and in step with the Holy Spirit. Lord, help me not to fade.

Until next time...
